The Livermore High School girls varsity flag football team delivered a commanding 25-6 nonleague victory over visiting Alhambra High of Martinez on Thursday, October 8, at the Maple Street campus stadium in Livermore. The decisive home triumph underscored a remarkable turnaround campaign for the Cowboys, who entered the mid-October slate holding a 13-7 overall record and a competitive 4-4 mark inside the East Bay Athletic League. With regular season play entering its final stretch, Livermore has won more games this autumn than in its past three seasons combined.

Quarterback Maya Booshada orchestrated the Cowboys' balanced offensive attack with clinical efficiency, completing 13 of 21 pass attempts for 139 passing yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions while adding 59 rushing yards. On the defensive side of the ball, Livermore's swarming secondary and pass rush stifled the visiting Bulldogs throughout the night, limiting Alhambra-Martinez to 72 yards in the first half and 123 total yards for the contest. Head coach James Petersdorf praised standout Shelby Sousa for her relentless playmaking, noting that she is fast and fearless.

Petersdorf credited the program's resurgence to a dedicated core of returning student-athletes who competed together in spring club flag football tournaments, building strong on-field chemistry and experience. Having developed roster continuity and heightened competitive spirit during offseason workouts, the Cowboys have gone toe-to-toe with perennial East Bay Athletic League contenders from San Ramon, Danville, Pleasanton, and Dublin. Parents, student supporters, and local families packed the home bleachers along Maple Street to celebrate the program's milestone 13th victory.

Athletic directors and school board officials across the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District and Contra Costa County highlighted girls CIF flag football as one of the fastest-growing scholastic sports in Northern California. Since the California Interscholastic Federation sanctioned girls flag football as an official varsity championship sport, participation numbers across Tri-Valley and Diablo Valley high schools have surged. High school athletic committees are now coordinating North Coast Section postseason seeding criteria ahead of November playoff brackets.

Tri-Valley sports fans, students, and alumni can view upcoming East Bay Athletic League game schedules, varsity roster statistics, and digital ticket links online at livermorehigh.lvjusd.org or by calling the campus athletic department at (925) 606-4812. The Cowboys will conclude their regular season slate over the next two weeks with pivotal league matchups against rival Tri-Valley programs before awaiting North Coast Section playoff announcements. Admission tickets for home evening contests at 600 Maple Street are available through the school box office portal.
