Parks engineers with the City of San Ramon Parks and Community Services Department and league coordinators from the San Ramon Senior Center Advisory Committee dedicated six resurfaced synthetic-turf bocce courts, cedar shade arbors, and dark-sky LED evening lighting on Saturday evening at Memorial Park at 5001 Bollinger Canyon Road in San Ramon. Tucked beneath heritage valley oaks adjacent to the Alcosta Senior and Community Center and the Memorial Park picnic pavilions, the upgraded six-lane complex hosts more than 320 weekly league players as well as intergenerational drop-in family matches.

To eliminate winter rain puddles and uneven crushed-oyster-shell bounce, athletic surfacing crews poured laser-leveled permeable concrete sub-slabs with perimeter French drains and bonded seamless 60-foot-by-12-foot woven monofilament synthetic bocce carpets across all six courts. Heavy-duty marine-grade mahogany sideboards and padded end-wall bumpers absorb pallino and bocce ball impacts without warping during hot summer afternoons.

At each court end, carpenters constructed cantilevered Douglas fir shade trellises shading wide redwood player benches, wheelchair-accessible viewing pads, and brass peg scoreboards. Overhead, twenty-four 3,000-Kelvin warm-white cutoff LED luminaires controlled by a push-button sixty-minute timer allow evening league matches to continue until 9:30 PM while eliminating light spill toward neighboring Bollinger Canyon Road residences.

The $245,000 court renovation program was approved by the San Ramon City Council through the Park Facilities Capital Improvement Fund. San Ramon residents, senior league captains, and visiting neighborhood teams can check drop-in court hours, seasonal tournament brackets, or reserve loaner bocce equipment bags free of charge on the City of San Ramon Parks and Community Services Portal.
